Director of Outsourcing – Accounting and Financial Analysis

As a Director, you will you will manage client projects and mentor colleagues as they grow in their skills and experience.  As part of this client-facing role, you will serve as a Controller for a number of our clients on an ongoing basis.  You will function as an important part of your clients’ senior level accounting and finance team. You will manage client engagements to ensure proper internal controls over client assets, timely submission of accurate internal financial statements, timely collection of receivables and payment of obligations, timely filing of accurate tax returns and other required external reporting documents, etc.

In this diverse role, you will also be responsible for providing FP&A services. Leveraging and developing your well-rounded finance skills, you will create and manage a variety of financial models and will be responsible for providing monthly management packages for our clients. You will take a progressively active role in supporting several clients through their monthly and quarterly forecasts and their annual budget process.

This position offers the flexibility of working from a Carlson office located in Woburn, MA, Stowe, VT, Columbus, OH or remotely.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and mentor Senior Associates in the Outsourcing Practice
  • Assist in a pre-sales capacity for onboarding new clients
  • Play a key role in growing the Outsourcing Practice
  • Serve as the primary general financial advisor clients
  • Support the management of client’s annual budget and monthly/quarterly forecast process
  • Preparation and review of client’s monthly and quarterly metrics and scorecards
  • Serve as the primary internal tax consultant regarding any basic client tax issues
  • Develop various financial models using the Carlson CPM Implementation Methodology
  • Become proficient in the use of Intacct ERP and Adaptive Insights CPM solutions
  • Provide clients with process improvements, better financial metrics and KPI’s
  • Periodic travel to client sites as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned based on client engagements

Specific requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 2+ years working in a Controller role
  • CPA highly desired
  • Experience with Intacct, Quickbooks and/or Adaptive Insights a strong plus
  • Technology savvy
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interface with people at all levels
  • Be proactive, a self-starter, results-oriented and a team player
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment and the ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information and to maintain strict confidentiality
